Thesis Title: Justice and Mercy: The Communication of Concepts through the Letters of Robert Grosseteste, Bishop of Lincoln, From Gregory the Great to John Wycliff
About
In September, 2011, I completed my MA in History (Ancient and Classical) from American Military University; almost 30 years after receiving my BS in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas, USA).
Between 1980 and 2001, I worked in the Aerospace Industry, mostly at Bell Helicopter Textron as a Manufacturing Engineer. I also served as a US Naval Reserve Intelligence Officer, retiring with the rank of Commander, several years ago.
After the 2001 attacks upon the United States, I was called to active service and led a wonderful group of men and women. After being released from military duty, I left the aerospace industry for national intelligence. Since then, I have worked as a senior and lead counterterrorism intelligence analyst. Currently, I teach intelligence-related skills to less-experienced analysts.
I plan to pursue a PhD--and am open to suggestions about programs related to:
-- the history of technology, particularly during the medieval and early modern era in Europe.
-- complexity, complex adaptive systems, and emergence; especially as applied to human networks and systems.
-- intelligence studies.
-- public policy related to terrorism and the use of "weapons of strategic influence" such as Improvised Explosive Devices.
-- ancient military history.
